Agaresh

I brook no contradiction to my commands
Agaresh

“In the Third age of Yggdrasil, Segnom, Beli wrested control of the Bronze Soldiers from Bragi and set them loose to seek justice. So long ago this was, we only know of it in myth and song. Beyond taking revenge upon their creator, their mention is few and far between. There is one story though, that stands out.”

“Some time during the early days of Medyo Degom’s rise from the ashes of the Plague of the Dead, a village not far from the Red Wastes was assaulted. Most tales describe it being the last remnants of the undead horde, militant ghuls, or both. The survivors had locked themselves in a tower too small to hold them all, were out of food, and the dead were on the verge of getting in. Then there was a great tumult of noise outside followed by a long silence.”

“When a brave few dared to look outside, they saw a single Bronze Soldier, painted block and red, covered in the gore of the decimated undead. It turned its orange glowing eyes upon the mortals and declared, “I claim you. You are weak now. You will be strong soon.”

“He would train and grow his army, eventually marching upon the Endless Dynasty in an effort to usurp their control of Medyo Degom. He failed in his ambition, but was never destroyed. He always found a way to escape, finding a new village under duress, to begin the cycle anew.”

“To those he saves, he is a hero manifesting from the time before time. To those he stands against, he is an implacable force of nature. His true nature is that of all Horrors, an agent of violence and destruction. A threat to humanity.”

Agaresh might be considered the perfect war leader, both as a commander and a soldier. It is suspected by scholars that during the Madness his background was in the military, but his physical form was entirely discorporated. He in fact doesn’t show up in the record until after the Third Age of Yggdrasil, unlike most of his peers in the House of Kwiegh.

Unlike many Horrors, Agaresh can be both an ally or an enemy for adventurers. His motivations appear to be very centered on his own drive to accumulate power through martial means. While a warlord, his subjects always speak of him glowingly, as he does not waste good tools. This makes defeating him when he has taken root as a ruler difficult, for the people will die for him.

If you are using the warfare rules found in the Lore Master’s Manual, he can be a truly formidable opponent to face. The unit he is attached to always operates as if it is an elite unit with a 6D for rolls.
