Akhlyton

One day I will kill you all. This you know is true.
Akhlyton

I have either been lucky or unlucky that I have never come across the great evil that is Akhlyton. I have seen wreckage in the water and on the shores of the great seas attributed to their rage, but never seen sight of their stinging tentacles or translucent great mass. Only this children’s rhyme, nearly the same in every coastal town, has proven to me that this Horror exists at all. It gives me hope that my search is not in vain.

I am an island and I float on the sea.
I have great big arms and tines that sting like a bee.
When the current flows warm or the current flows cold,
I eat all that passes by as in days of old.

I am an island and I float on the sea.
I have great big arms and tines that sting like a bee.
Mortals can build ships and armor that saves.
My arms will smash them all down into the waves.

I am an island and float on the sea.
I have great big arms and tines that sting like a bee.
My endless age makes me wise and my rage makes me strong.
When you hear my voice on the wind you know something is wrong.

I am an island and I float on the sea.
I have great big arms and tines that sting like a bee.
I hate Yggdrasil and I hate you.
One day I will kill you all. This you know is true.
~ From Taubha’s Lesser Book of Names

Akhlyton is said to be so vast that they are an island unto themself. In terms of physical power, they are easily beyond compare to any save the Archon of House Hnehegh. Yggdrasil is only saved absolute destruction at this abomination’s hands by its tendency to hibernate for centuries at a time.

Being the size of an island, Akhlyton themself can be an adventure location. When dormant, mortals, animals, and plants can often make it their home. Dirt, stone, and flotsam become attached to its massive bulk, and unless you go digging deep or dive below the waves to encounter its tentacles, you would be none the wiser.

Perhaps the ruin explored on its surface eventually ends with a translucent bulk that shouldn’t have ever been touched?
