Dragon Magazine Number 12 - February 1978
Circulation, Odds, and Ends

Man this cover is awful. I have no idea what this is supposed to be. There is no composition, no story, no nothing. It is as if my least favorite art form, the "character pin up", was done six times in the same piece.

As bad as this is though, coupled with the circulation information they published in issue 12 you have to ask yourself how the hell they got those few beautiful covers I have shared so far. Just look at those numbers. It is easy to forget there was a time when people didn't know what D&D was.

Speaking of easily forgetting things, check out the ad in this issue. Note that the games were created by Steve Jackson, which is a neat bit of history on it's own, but check the font on the bottom. Look familiar? That is a long ass time to use one font.

Yes. In this issue the most interesting things were the circulation numbers, the bad cover, and an advertisement. Still no mention of the Creature Feature naming contest results (though in issue #11 they said issue #12 would have the results, sorry +David Turner), but that is not entirely surprising considering the numbers they were reaching at this time
