Making Progress

Had myself a pretty busy creative weekend. I edited Yggdrasil MGZ Issue 03 and requested my proof. I recorded and edited a promotion video for Testament Part One, which I will share on Tuesday. I started design work on the cover for part two, which should hit stores in the winter. Lastly, I made progress on this piece.

Each part of Testament I have been adding a new print as a part of the front matter. In Testament Part One, Heusos, I created a map of the Nine Realms. For Testament: Part Two Heiuper I am making a print of Yggdrasil itself… a stylized one at least.

What is interesting, is that working on this illustration inspired me to start work on another project. I have a bit of an obsession with semi-scholarly texts I used to read as a kid that were published in the 70’s. Typically they would be about some historical figure or period, but in the middle of the book would be a series of glossy pages with photographs, sometimes in color, of artifacts relevant to the subject. At one point, that was what I was going to write instead of what became Testament.

Instead, I am going to start work in the coming weeks on what I am calling, 100 Objects of Yggdrasil. The idea is I would make an illustration of 100 different objects and write up a bit of a description. I am thinking of it as a sort of cultural exploration. It will move a lot slower than this newsletter, as I need to do a bunch more planning, but I think there is something interesting there.
