I've been thinking a lot about how to document my process more effectively. It has always been important for art marketing to demonstrate process. It is really important these days.

Unfortunately the internet is spasming like a dying animal. The social media platforms have turned into weird city-states demanding fealty and fascism. This has made, ironically enough, YouTube the last place online I might get some value out of from a marketing perspective.

More importantly though, documenting my process helps me learn. I get to watch myself work and see what I do from a remove. Study my own work as I study other artists.

This time I also did a voice over in post, which was a first. That forced me to consider things in a different way as I watched myself work. As I did it in one take, I just let the words flow naturally.

How you enjoy the video as much as I did making it.

Weekly Roundup

Handbooks, fiction game crossovers, the cost of handing AI the keys, and a master selling their wares.

My Work

As I mentioned in the video, I have some more pieces on the way to finish up before I update The Adventurers Handbook. Next up are the nine illustrations of the classes found in the book and will be the basis of the covers for the companion short, separate class pamphlets/character sheets. I just started the sketches, so more to show next week.

Gaming

They are apparently making a Children of Time RPG and I find myself asking why? It seems like every bit of fiction or pop culture has someone somewhere trying to turn it into a game. It is sooooo hard to make a game feel like the fiction you love. Almost all of them fail and leave people disappointed. Always seems like a fools errand to me. Link

Technology

If you want to see how what stupid smashed together with AI will look like, look no further than this paper. Do not give AI agents access to your stuff and the internet people. I implore you. Link

Creativity

Mark Smylie has put his original art up for sale. Prices start as low as $50 for small works and get as pricey as over $500 for larger works. He is easily in my pantheon of great living artists worth admiring and studying. You should go buy his art. Link
