Yggdrasil MGZ Issue Three
I am really excited. I just recently got my latest run of the third issue of Yggdrasil MGZ, and they are beautiful. I am using a new printer called Print Ninja, who are local for me. Their work is wonderful and they are super easy to work with. If you are doing short runs, they print here in Illinois. For long runs, they print overseas, but the quality is really wonderful.
Another added benefit is that with this new printer, I feel confident shipping print copies to folks who selected a paid subscription to this newsletter. Thank you to my paid subscribers. I absolutely appreciate you all.
This issue, I am particularly proud of, for a couple of reasons.
First and foremost, I think I hit my stride with my “magazine writing” in this issue. While I appreciate the work I did on the first two issues, I know I was struggling to find my voice for the medium. I danced around it. In this one I stopped dancing around it and embraced what I wanted to accomplish.
Secondly, I hit a certain stride with the layout. Gaming magazines historically have a low bar for layout and design, but I was trained for this… al be it 25 years ago. I love the magic of a wonderfully designed print product, and I think this issue is the first time I sniffed that magic.
Lastly, this is my first issue where I collaborated entirely with my kids. I have long leveraged models for my work, much like my hero Tim Bradstreet. However, this is the first time I got to use all three of my kids as reference for my art. It is particularly wild for me that my one son, when I began transforming him in my art, resembled my father in the 70s.
So, if anything about what I am sharing today interests you, you can support my creativity in two ways. You can upgrade to a paid subscription and/or you can hit my store and order a copy of this issue.
