Eye of God
High in the ceiling of the Sanctum of the Serpent Vaults, west of the Spires, hangs the Eye of God. It reigns down a sickly green light that bathes half the Sanctum in endless day and the other half in endless twilight. No one is truly hidden from its sight.
The radiation of the light has a curious effect of those who dare to brave it. The faithful call it the Blessing of God while the heretics call it His Curse. No matter the belief, the longer you stand in its radiance the more likely you will be changed forever.
For every twenty-four hours of exposure, roll 1D12 on the following chart. Once you achieve a blessing… or curse, no longer roll on the chart.
- Your skin gives off a faint green glow. Even in darkness you now are surrounded by a dim sickly light. Only if you wrap yourself head to toe can you ever be truly hidden, but at least you are never completely blind.
- Your skin changes color to reflect the green light of the Eye. It shimmers slightly as if your skin is made of scales. It feels as it always has, but sometimes, at the right angle, you could swear you had scales.
- Blisters continually form on your exposed skin. Hands, face, any part of you that comes into the light forms blisters almost immediately. They don’t hurt at all, but when they burst, they ooze a sickly green liquid that oddly has no smell.
- You will never sleep soundly again. Your dreams are haunted by the ever looming Eye. Watching you. Judging you.
- Your eyes change color and shape to reflect the Eye. Sickly green and split by a a pillar like pupil. Your vision is just as it was, but your eyes unnerve anyone who doesn’t see it as a blessing.
- The tips of your fingers, but not your thumbs, grow small eyes with thick calloused lids. Each of the eyes is a mirror image of the Eye of God and you can see through them as you would your own eyes, only the world carries a sickly green haze.
- Nothing happens… for now.
- Nothing happens… for now.
- When exposed to the light, to any light at all, your hands twitch and your legs shake ever so slightly. Your body floods with adrenaline because you know that now the Eye can see you.
- Your hair becomes brittle and a pale green, much like the light of the Eye in the Bone Forest. In times of stress it comes out in great clumps on its own accord, growing back slowly and at different rates.
- Your ears bleed almost constantly, but there is something odd with the blood. When you are cut, your blood is its normal red, but the blood from your ears has green flecks in it. Almost like tiny green scales.
- Your stomach is perpetually upset no matter what you do. Food never tastes right and nothing digests easily. You are always queasy and on the verge of emptying your stomach, but also always hungry, and will gorge yourself at every meal. To watch you eat is a horror for others.
